Kort Peterson

Kort Peterson graduated summa cum laude from Kennesaw State University in 2004 with a B.S. in Communication. While pursuing his J.D. at Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia, he was a student attorney at the law school’s Community Legal Practice Center, assisting low-income clients with family law matters and basic estate planning. Kort then attended the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where he received an LL.M. in Taxation. He was in the first Graduate Tax class at Georgetown to receive Certificates in Estate Planning.

Kort focuses his practice at Adams │ Hemingway on estate and tax planning and corporate and transactional law. He assists clients with the design and implementation of sophisticated estate and business succession plans, helping guide clients through administrating complex trusts and estates. He also advises businesses on a wide variety of tax issues, including the formation and operation of captive insurance companies. He represents clients before the IRS and the U.S. Tax Court.

Kort and his wife Dorothy have three children, Rosemary, Oscar, and Beatrice, and are members of First Presbyterian Church in Macon.
